About The Band
Our Story
ADWENPA BAND is a 11-piece Ghanaian afro pop, funk, highlife, reggae,
pop, afro jazz band from Accra, Ghana. The band was formed in 2018 from a
collection of good and talented musicians well-known in Ghana’s music circle
who met at the studio and decided to form a group
ADWENPA BAND plays their own songs, composed and arrange by the
musicians themselves and also plays renditions of other songs.
Their goal is to honor classic highlife music in all forms and fusions, from early
Afro-Cuban and calypso strains to funky soul workouts and expertly executed
with the requisite rippling guitars, solid horn section, driving percussion, and
fine harmony vocals.
ADWENPA is admired for its innovation clarity as well as the remodel beauty
and force of its music. ADWENPA debut album, “enko enja me,” depicts the
impact of Ghana’s Highlife music’s journey.
Bassist
Daniel Antwi
The leader of ADWENPA band. Daniel Antwi is highly skilled and versatile bass guitarist with a strong passion for music and a professional mindset. Daniel is Capable of playing a wide range of genres, such as reggae, jazz, funk, Afro pop, pop, and Latin music. Able to adapt playing style to fit different musical contexts and requirements.
Daniel Antwi has participated in numerous live shows, both as a member of bands and as a hired session musician. Collaborated with various artists and performed in diverse venues, ranging from intimate clubs to large festivals.
Drummer
Samuel Kweku Mensah
He is a prolific drummer who also bears the stage name Abala in the Ghanaian music space. He has strong influence on the Ghanaian Highlife music and also very versatile on other genre such as Afro jazz, Funk, Afro Fusion etc.
Percussionist
Dominic Ansah
He is a young and talented musician with 24 years of experience who has worked with many artists musicians, bands, and choirs in Ghana, and is currently the main percussionist for Adwenpa Band.
Keyboardist
Richard Lamptey
He is an accomplished musician who has made a name for himself in the vibrant music scene of Ghana. Currently a prominent member of the ADWENPA Band, Richard continues to showcase his musical prowess on both local and international stages. His captivating performances have earned him opportunities to headline major concerts and prestigious events.
Richard Lamptey’s unwavering dedication to his craft, coupled with his innate musical talent, has solidified his position as a respected figure within the Ghanaian music industry.

Felix Dormenyor
He is an accomplished keyboardist with over 20 years of experience in the music industry. Throughout his illustrious career, Felix has collaborated with various bands and artists, showcasing his exceptional musical talent and versatility.
Felix’s musical prowess has taken him beyond borders, as he has participated in numerous international musical tours. These experiences have not only enriched Felix’s musical repertoire but have also allowed him to connect with audiences from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Electric Guitarist
Samuel Awuku
Guitarist gifted with a deep African and Ghanaian Rhythmic style of play plus a talent for Composing and Arranging of African and Traditional Ghanaian Rhythms. Worked as a Guitarist Professionally with Afro Jazz Bands, and has worked with a lot of Bands in Ghana and outside the country.
A Guitarist who wills to Study more about his Career outside the Country and to work with Other Bands, Artists and Recording Companies. Always likes to Explore the talent he has to the world.
Percussionist
Eric Nii Okai Aryeetey
Talented musician with 20 years’ experience. He has worked with many artists, bands and choirs in Ghana such as LineOut Band, Y2K Band, Sika Y3D3 Band. And currently working with the Adwenpa Band as a percussionist.
Trumpeter
Obese Elvis
Is a multifaceted trumpeter, educator, and improviser whose sound is defined by rhythmic intensity and melodic fire. With a foundation in Music Education (B.A.), his playing is technically brilliant yet steeped in feeling, spanning the globe from classic Jazz to infectious Afro-fusion and contemporary popular music. His signature is the sharp, virtuosic horn line—always unexpected and deeply musical. Whether leading his band or bringing his energetic sound to session work, Elvis black (as stage name ) is a dynamic artist driven by a love for performance and a passion for crafting the perfect solo.

Gideon Opoku Gyamfi
Known as M.O.V Gideon, is a Ghanaian Singer, songwriter and a composer focusing on HighLife and Afro fusion music weaving melodies and lyrics to capture hearts and souls. my music aesthetic resonates with raw emotions and authentic experiences. From intimate acoustic African rhythms to upbeat anthems as professional musician.
He is constantly pushing boundaries and exploring new sounds to create a signature vibe that’s uniquely mine with my tone. Let’s groove to the rhythm of life together and make magic through music.

He is a professional saxophonist with a great love for music. He is good in composition, highly skilled in live performances and seek to put out his best for the success of musical projects.
